Memory Training Success Story
by On January 24, 2011

I love hearing from past graduates of the Memory Training Workshop! I recently received this email and just had to share. If you haven’t taken this class, check out the dates and locations we have around the country. The results you will see after taking this workshop will blow your mind – I guarantee it! Anyways, here is what a client shared with me:

Hi David,

I want to thank you so much for what you taught me at the seminar last month! I have been applying what I learned to a second business I have and have seen amazing results. What used to take days for a new recruit to learn is now taking hours all while having fun, laughing, and creating excitement about learning! With a presentation that is 2.5 hours long, full of detailed information, and very interactive with the customer, the memory training has helped to keep my associates on track, remembering what points they need to cover, and doing it without the anxiety of rote memorization. This has truly helped increase the quality and consistency of our presentation, then number of sales made, and moral for new associates!

Thanks so much!
Jeremy Thompson, Saladmaster, Portland, OR

What a great testimonial! I am so happy Jeremy is bettering his life with these new skills. I hope to see you at a Memory Training Workshop soon.

Instant Attitude Boost Tool
by On January 17, 2011

Roger SeipAt Freedom Personal Development, we are all about attitude. I have taught countless workshops and given keynote speeches across the country on this topic and wanted to share one of the most important attitude management tools you have.

I always start a class or speech with an informal survey of the audience about whether their attitude is a talent or a skill. A talent being something that you are either born with or not; you have it or your do not. And a skill is something that you will learn through conscious efforts.

People tend to argue with and say that their attitude is a talent, and not a skill. But, then I ask them this question, “Are there things you can proactively and consciously do to improve your attitude?” They answer always is, “yes!”

What do you think? Is your attitude a talent or a skill?

I have found that most people are not aware that their attitude is a skill that they can conscious improve or are aware of the tools they have to do this.

I am going to give you one of these attitude-boosting tools right now. And this is probably the number one attitude management tool in your arsenal. It is your sense of humor, or what I call your ability to laugh.

Now, in talking about this, I do not mean that you need to suddenly become a professional stand up comic. I am talking about using your sense of humor as a way to cultivate your attitude. This does not mean that you need to make people laugh; it means that you yourself need to learn to laugh in three distinct ways.

You need to learn to laugh:

1) At yourself
2) With other people and
3) About the negative situations you face

I will break this down very quickly for you.

First of all, you need to learn to laugh at yourself. I am convinced that the number one cause of stress for most people is that they just flat out take themselves way too seriously. If you are somebody that takes yourself too seriously, I am just obligated to warn you of two things.

Number one, if you do not know how to laugh at yourself, I have found that other people will feel obligated to get that done for you. Somebody is going to be laughing at you, so it might as well be you.

Number two, if do not know how to laugh at yourself, you will find yourself in situations, more often than not, that make you look and feel ridiculous.

Secondly, you need to laugh with other people. For any of you in sales, this is especially true. One of the best pieces of advice I ever received was that if you can laugh with somebody, they will buy from you.

Think about that for just a second. If you can laugh with somebody, they will buy from you and even if you are not in sales, that still applies. Laughter is a great way to enhance your communication and break down communication barriers.

Thirdly, you need to learn to laugh about the negative situations you face. Now, do not get me wrong here. I am not saying that you do not have situations that are serious. Most people do. What I am saying is that if you get caught up in the doom and gloom of the moment, it is difficult to focus on the solutions to those challenges.

When you keep things in perspective, learn to laugh about some of the negative things that you face and how ridiculous they often are, that is when you begin to unlock your creativity to be able to deal with those negative situations much more effectively.

To recap, the best attitude management tool you have to give yourself an instant boost is to learn to laugh – specifically, at yourself, with other people and about the negative situations that you face.

Graceful Transitions
by On December 9, 2010

going with this.

Are we not so busy in life that we are constantly looking at the past, or working towards the future, that we don’t focus on the transition? I am sure you might be saying, “here goes the be present talk again..” Not at all.

How do you transition in life Gracefully?

There are many answers to this, (without getting into a book here) I will tell you what makes transitioning every yoga pose easier…strength…sheer Strength. Ahhh…let’s take this off the yoga mat and into real life.

How do you stay strong through your transitions in life?

Keeping yourself mentally strong, physically strong, spiritually strong, and staying strong and true to your personal core values. These will all help you get through any transition. In order for these aspects to be strong, they need to be practiced on a regular basis.

How are you doing in these areas of your life? If you can not lift a 5 pound weight, I promise that the 50 pound rock that might land on your foot will be difficult to move. Get my point? Keeping yourself strong in all aspects of your life will ebb and flow, we are not perfect and we might get flabby in an area or two sometimes. But we CAN evaluate these areas and make an effort to get stronger, so that when that transition comes, we can handle it gracefully.
So….how are you doing in these areas? Take a moment and evaluate yourself on a scale of 1-10 (1 being you can’t life a pound/10 being you might be on steroids):

  • Keeping yourself mentally strong on a regular basis? (Reading, listening to educational/positive material, keeping current on your product or industry)
  • Keeping yourself physically strong? (Working out, eating healthy, getting outside)
  • Keeping yourself spiritually strong? (Praying, meditating, service to others, practicing witchcraft – or whatever this looks like for YOU)
  • Keeping true to your core values? (Doing the right thing, keeping true to who you are and your beliefs, keeping your priorities straight)

We all must fall sometimes, or lose our balance…as we do in yoga, as well. The fall will never hurt as bad if…if….we are strong enough to catch ourselves.

I challenge you…Do one thing everyday this week to improve your strength in one area of your life. We would love to hear your thoughts on what you are doing!!!
